Drug repurposing
- Research interests encompass the pharmacological screening of herbal, semisynthetic, and synthetic drugs in animal models of various diseases like movement disorders (Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Tardive dyskinesia), Traumatic brain injury (TBI), epilepsy, depression and cognitive impairment related disorders. Model systems include rodents and Zebra Fish, and hypotheses are built and tested using the techniques of in vivo and in vitro, Behavioral, Biochemical and Molecular pharmacology studies.
- To explore the new pathological mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders
- To investigate the role of neurotransmitters, mitochondrial dysfunction, excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, apoptosis in neurodegenerative disorders and how investigational drugs modulate these pathways.
