Research Interests

My research endeavors aim to unravel the molecular underpinnings of the pathogenesis of age-related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), coronary artery disease (CAD), Cancer, and neurological disorders, utilizing both human subjects and rodent models. I possess a profound interest in exploring the genetic underpinnings of T2DM, CAD, Cancer, and Alzheimer's Disease; the potential of mitochondria-focused treatments; and the applications of nanomedicine, all through the utilization of state-of-the-art, high-throughput methodologies. My research laboratory "Laboratory of Translational Medicine and Nanotherapeutics" complemented by a fully-equipped instrumentation facility, is adept at conducting research spanning cellular, molecular, and genomic analyses of diverse diseases. My current PhD students are directed towards pinpointing novel molecular targets for integration into clinical settings as viable diagnostic or therapeutic biomarkers, particularly for conditions such as Myocardial Infarction, Diabetic Nephropathy, and the nano-delivery of drugs targeting neurodegenerative diseases.
