Research Interests
Dr. Harmanpreet Singh Kapoor’s research areas lie broadly in applied statistics with emphasis on actuarial science, survival analysis, reliability modelling and interdisciplinary data analysis, focusing on how probabilistic and statistical methods can be used to understand and manage uncertainty in real-world systems. His work particularly involves modelling lifetime and risk processes relevant to insurance and pension calculations, developing and analysing statistical distributions for failure time and human survival data, and applying inference techniques to compare risk across populations. He also engages in reliability studies of engineering and operational systems where performance changes over stages, as well as biostatistical and socio-economic applications including medical prognosis, genetic association and environmental or policy-related data interpretation. Overall, his research integrates theoretical statistical methodology with practical decision-making problems so that mathematical models become usable tools in insurance, healthcare and applied risk assessment.
